      is 75 km/hr and 30 km/hr, respectively. If the distance covered by ‘A’ in ‘x’ hours is 225 km more than that by ‘B’ in the same time, then find the value of ‘x’.

      Solution

      If the time is same, then the ratio of the speeds is equal to the ratio of the distance covered
      Therefore, ratio of the distance covered by ‘A’ and ‘B’ = 75:30 = 5:2
      Let the distance covered by ‘A’ and ‘B’ be 5y km and 2y km, respectively
      According to the question,
      5y – 2y = 225
      Or, y = 225/3 = 75
      Therefore, distance coved by ‘A’ = 5y = 375 km
      Time taken by ‘A’ = x = 375/75 = 5 hours
