Question
In class ‘D’, the number of girls is 50% of the number
of boys. Class ‘E’ has 30% less number of boys than in class ‘D’ and 50% more total students than class ‘D’. What is the ratio of girls in class ‘D’ to girls in class ‘E’?Solution
ATQ,
Let the number of boys in class ‘D’ = 100x
Then, number of girls in class ‘D’ = 0.50 × 100x = 50x
Number of boys in class ‘E’ = 0.70 × 100x = 70x
Total number of students in class ‘E’ = (100x + 50x) × (150/100) = 225x
Number of girls in class ‘E’ = 225x – 70x = 155x
Required ratio = (50x):(155x) = 10:31
