Question
A fruit vendor sold 'N' kg of mangoes at ₹120/kg. If
he purchased the mangoes at ₹(5N - 4)/kg, then his profit percentage is 25%. Find the loss percentage of fruit vendor, when he sold all the mangoes at ₹4(N + 1)/kg.Solution
Selling price of 1 kg of mangoes = ₹120
Cost price of 1 kg of mangoes = ₹'5N - 4'
Profit percentage = 25%
125% of (5N - 4) = 120
5N - 4 = 96
N = 20
Cost price of 1 kg of mangoes = ₹96
New selling price of 1 kg of mangoes = 4(N + 1) = 4*(20 + 1) = ₹84
Loss percentage = [(96 - 84)/96]*100 = 12.5%
