Question
The total cost price of a mobile charger and an earphone is
Rs. 375. Earphone is sold at a profit of 37.5% while charger is sold at a loss of 4%. Find the selling price of the charger if the selling price of the earphone is Rs. 275.Solution
Let the cost price of earphone be 8t
Selling price of earphone = 8t + (3/8) x 8t = 11t
Let the cost price of charger be 25y
Selling price of charger = 25y - (1/25) x 25y = 24y
Given, 11t = 275
=> t = 25
Cost price of the earphone = 8t = 8 x 25 = Rs. 200
Hence, cost price of charger = 375 - 200 = Rs. 175
=> 25y = 175
=> y = 7
Hence, required selling price of the charger = 24y = 24 x 7 = Rs. 168
