Question
The cost price of five dozen sandwiches is Rs. 300.
After selling 42 sandwiches at the rate of Rs. 90 per dozen, the shopkeeper reduced the rate and sold the remaining sandwiches at the rate of Rs. 60 per dozen. Find the profit or loss percentage of the shopkeeper in this transaction.Solution
ATQ,
Cost price of 5 dozen sandwiches = Rs. 300
Selling price of 42 sandwiches = 42 × (90/12) = Rs. 315
Selling price of 18 sandwiches = 18 × (60/12) = Rs. 90
Selling price of 60 sandwiches = 315 + 90 = Rs. 405
Profit earned on selling 60 sandwiches = 405 – 300 = Rs. 105
Profit percentage = (105/300) × 100 = 35%
