Question
A fruit vendor bought 50 kg of mangoes at Rs. 30 per kg. He
sold some of them at a profit of 10% and the rest at a profit of 20%. If the total profit he made was Rs. 180, find the quantity of mangoes sold at 20% profit.Solution
ATQ,
Let the quantity of mangoes sold at 20% profit be ‘x’ kg and the quantity of mangoes sold at 10% profit be ‘50 – x’ kg.
ATQ;
30 × 0.1 × (50 – x) + 30 × 0.2 × x = 180
Or, 150 – 3x + 6x = 180
Or, 3x = 30
Or, x = 10
Therefore, the vendor sold 10 kg of mangoes at 20% profit.
