Question
Abhinav bought some pencils for ₹ X. He sold 20% of
pencils at 25% loss, one third at 20% profit and the remaining at 25% profit. If the total profit earned by him on selling all the pencils is ₹248, then find the value of X (in₹)Solution
Solution-Let the number of pencils =300
sold 20% of pencils at 25% loss=300× (20/100) =60× (75/100) =45
one third at 20% profit=300× (1/3) =100× (120/100) =120
and now remaining pencils =300-(60+100) =140
140 pencils sold on 25% profit =140×125/100=175
Earn profit = (175+120+45) -(300)
=340-300
=40
ATQ-
40=248
10=62
300=1860
Total number of pencils=300=1860.
