Question
A dealer sold an article for Rs. 536 after allowing a discount of 33% on its marked price. If the dealer suffered a loss of 20% in this transaction, then find the difference (in Rs.) between the cost price and the marked price of the article.
Solution
Marked price of the article = 536 ÷ 0.67 = Rs. 800 Cost price of the article = 536 ÷ 0.8 = Rs. 670 Required difference = 800 – 670 = Rs. 130
