Question
A shopkeeper purchases rice of two varieties ‘A’ and
‘B’ at Rs. 27 per kg and Rs. 24 per kg respectively. He mixes 1 kg of variety ‘A’ rice with 2 kg of variety ‘B’ rice and sells the mixture at Rs. 40 per kg. What is his profit percent?Solution
Cost price of 3 kg of the rice mixture = 27 + 24 × 2 = Rs. 75 Cost price of 1 kg of the rice mixture = 75 ÷ 3 = Rs. 25 So, profit percentage = (40 – 25) ÷ 25 × 100 = 60%
