Question
A man divides his savings among his son, daughter and
wife in such a way that the ratio of daughter's share to wife's share, as well as wife's share to son's share is 5 : 3. If the daughter gets ₹56,000 more than the son, then find the total savings of the person (in ₹).Solution
ATQ,
Given: Daughter : Wife = 5:3 Wife : Son = 5:3 Daughter gets ₹56,000 more than Son Common ratio → Daughter : Wife : Son = 25x : 15x : 9x Difference = 25x − 9x = 16x = 56,000 ⇒ x = 56,000 ÷ 16 = ₹3,500 Total = 25x + 15x + 9x = 49x ⇒ 49 × 3,500 = ₹1,71,500
