of the total valid votes. If the total votes of the electorate were 75,60,000, then what was the number of valid votes that Q got if 10% of the voters did not cast their vote and 15% of the votes polled were declared invalid?
A 1,41,372 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 1,41,732 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 12,72,348 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 1,47,312 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Total electorate = 75,60,000

    10% did not vote → 90% voted = 75,60,000 × 0.90 = 68,04,000 (votes polled)

15% of polled votes were invalid → 85% were valid = 68,04,000×0.85=57,83,400 (valid votes)

    P got 78% of valid votes = 57,83,400 × 0.78 = 45,11,052

    Q got remaining valid votes = 57,83,400 − 45,11,052 = 12,72,348 valid votes.
