As we know, Time to cover x km distance at a speed of 12 km/hr = x/12 hrs Time to cover x km distance at a speed of 24 km/hr = x/24 hrs Time to cover x km distance at a speed of 8 km/hr = x/8 hrs Total distance covered by the man = (x + x + x) = 3x Total time to cover the distance= (x/12 + x/24 + x/8) Average Speed =(3x) / (x/12 + x/24 + x/8) =3x /(6x/24) =12km/h.
