    policeman starts chasing, the thief also starts running. If the speed of the thief is 32km/h and that of the policeman is 40 km/h, then how far would the thief have run before he is overtaken?

    Solution

    Let, the distance covered by the thief be x km. ATQ- x/32 = (x + 0.4)/40 x/32-x/40 = 4/400 (40x-32x)/32×40 = 1/100 8x/1280 = 1/100 x = 1.6km Distance covered by thief = 1.6 km = 1.6 x 1000 m = 1600 m
