Average expenditure of 11 students = 19 × 11 = Rs. 209 Let money spent by the twelfth friend be Rs.x Total money spent by all the 12 friend = 209 + x Average money spent by 12 friend = (209 + x) / 12 Given, x = [(209 + x)/12] - 11 ⇒ 12x = 209 + x - 132 ⇒ 11x = 77 ∴ x = 7 Total expense = 209 + 7 = Rs. 216
