    Let there be x men originally x men finish the work = 46 days And (x + 8) persons finish the work = (46-16) = 30 days   x men finish the work = 46   1 man finish the work = 46x   (x + 8) persons finish the work = 30 1 man finish the work = 30(x + 8) Now, 46x = 30(x + 8)   46x = 30x + 240 16x = 240 x = 15 There were 15 persons.
