Let, the 9 consecutive numbers are x, (x + 1), (x + 2), (x + 3), (x + 4), (x + 5), (x + 6), (x + 7), (x + 8) So, [x + (x + 1) + (x + 2) + (x + 3) + (x + 4) + (x + 5) + (x + 6) + (x + 7) + (x + 8)]/9 = 20 ⇒ (9x + 36)/9 = 20 ⇒ 9x + 36 = 180 ⇒ 9x = 180 - 36 = 144 ⇒ x = 144/9 = 16
