The sum of the incomes of A and B is Rs. 1,08,000. A

spends 50% of his income while B spends 75% of his income such that the savings of B is Rs. 6,000 less than that of A. If the income of C is equal to average savings of A and B together, then find the savings of C, given that C saves 30% of his income.
A Rs. 4,200 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B Rs. 6,000 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C Rs. 5,700 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D Rs. 6,000 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E Rs. 6,600 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      Let the income of B be Rs. β€˜x’ Therefore, income of A = Rs. (108000 – x) Savings of A = 0.5 Γ— (108000 – x) = Rs. (54000 – 0.5x) Savings of B = Rs. 0.25x According to the question, 54000 – 0.5x = 0.25x + 6000 Or, 0.75x = 48000 Or, x = 64000 Savings of A = 54000 – 32000 = Rs. 22000 Savings of B = 16000 Income of C = {(22000 + 16000)/2} = Rs. 19000 Savings of C = 0.3 Γ— 19000 = Rs. 5700
