Question
A man donated 13%, 14% and 22% of his income to three
NGOs ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’, respectively. They spent 75%, 80% and 50% of respective sums received by them. If total sum left with three NGOs is Rs. 1705, then find the income of man.Solution
Let the income of the man be Rs. x Therefore, sum donated to NGO ‘A’ = Rs. 0.13x Sum left with NGO ‘A’ = 0.25 × 0.13x = Rs. 0.0325x Sum donated to NGO ‘B’ = Rs. 0.14x Sum left with NGO ‘B’ = 0.2 × 0.14x = Rs. 0.028x Sum donated to NGO ‘C’ = Rs. 0.22x Sum left with NGO ‘C’ = 0.5 × 0.22x = Rs. 0.11x According to the question, 0.0325x + 0.028x + 0.11x = 1705 Or, 0.1705x = 1705 Or, x = 1705/0.1705 = 10000 Therefore, income of man = Rs. 10000
