Question
A man spends 21% and 12% of his monthly salary on rent
and transportation, respectively. Out of the remaining money, he spends 26% on food and 41% on entertainment. If he saves Rs. 3537.60, then find his monthly salary.Solution
Let the monthly salary of the man be Rs. ‘x’. Money spent on rent and transportation = (21 + 12)% of x = Rs. 0.33x Remaining money = (x – 0.33x) = Rs. 0.67x Money spent on food and entertainment = (26 + 41)% of 0.67x = Rs. 0.4489x Remaining money left = 0.67x – 0.4489x = 0.2211x So, 0.2211x = 3537.6 x = Rs. 16000
