      Question

The ratio of investments of ‘Neha’ and ‘Riya’ is

8:6. The amount invested by ‘Kiran’ is Rs. 400 less than Neha’s investment. If all invested for the same period and the profit ratio between Neha and Kiran is 4:3, find the ratio of profit between Riya and Kiran.
A 2:3 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 1:1 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 3:5 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 4:5 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

Let the investment of Neha and Riya be Rs. 8x and Rs. 6x respectively.
      Investment by Kiran = Rs. (8x – 400)
      According to the question,
      8x/(8x – 400) = 4/3
      Or, 24x = 32x – 1600
      Or, 8x = 1600
      Or, x = 1600/8 = 200
      Therefore, ratio of profits of Riya and Kiran = 6x/(8x – 400) = 1200:1200 = 1:1
