Question
Arun and Meena start a business with investments in the
ratio 7:3 respectively. After 4 months, Neha joins with an amount equal to the average of both. If the total profit at the end of the year is Rs. 5,00,000, how much did Meena earn?Solution
ATQ,
Let investments of Arun and Meena be Rs. ‘7x’ and Rs. ‘3x’, respectively.
So, Neha’s investment = (7x + 3x)/2 = Rs. ‘5x’
Profit share ratio = (7x × 12) : (3x × 12) : (5x × 8) = 84 : 36 : 40
Simplify → 21:9:10
So, required profit for Meena = 500000 × (9/40) = Rs. 1,12,500
