Question
'Atul' and 'Bittu' started a business together with
investments of Rs. 4500 and Rs. 5000, respectively, for one year. They agreed to split 25% of their total profit equally and the remainder according to their investment ratios. If 'Bittu' ended up receiving Rs. 600 more than 'Atul', calculate the total profit they made.Solution
ATQ, Let the total profit received by them be Rs. 4x Therefore, amount to be splits among them in the ratio of the investments made by them = 0.75 × 4x = Rs. 3x Ratio of the investment made by them = 4500:5000 = 9:10 According to the question, (10/19) × 3x – (9/19) × 3x = 600 Or, x = (19 × 600)/3 = Rs.3800 Therefore, total profit received = 4x = 15200
