Question

    If the ratio of time periods of investment of A and B is

    5:7, profit at the end of the year is Rs.100000 and A’s share in it is Rs.20000, then what is the ratio of A’s and B’s investment?
    A 7:20 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 5:12 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 2:5 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 3:8 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the ratio of A’s and B’s investment be x:y. The ratio of time periods of investment of A, => [5x/(5x+7y)] x 100000 = 20000 => [5x/(5x+7y)] = 1/5 => 25x = 5x + 7y => 20x = 7y => x:y = 7:20
