Question
Three Partners Amar, Akbar and Anthony invested in the
ratio of 3/2, 2/3, 4/3 in a business. After 3 months Amar decreased his capital by 50%. If the total profit of Rs. 8460 earned at the end of the year, find what was the Amar’s Share of profit?Solution
Amar : Akbar : Anthony 3/2 : 2/3 : 4/3 Multiply Ratios by (2,3,3 LCM) i.e., 6x Capital Ratio - 3/2 ×6x : 2/3 ×6x : 4/3 ×6x 9x : 4x : 8x Total Capital of Amar in 1 year = 9x × 3 + 4.5x × 9 = 27x+40.5x = 67.5x Total Capital of Akbar in 1 year = 4x × 12 = 48x Total Capital of Anthony in 1year = 8x × 12 = 96x Now, Amar : Akbar : Anthony 67.5x : 48x : 96x According to the question 67.5 + 48x + 96x = 8460 211.5x = 8460 x = 8460/211.5 = 40 Hence, Share of Amar = 67.5 × 40 = 2700
