    average marks scored by him excluding his highest and lowest marks is 60 and highest marks scored by him is 145, then find the lowest marks scored by him.

    Solution

    Sum of the marks scored by him in 5 subjects = 5 × 75 = 375
    Sum of the marks scored by him excluding highest and lowest marks = 3 × 60 = 180
    Therefore, sum of his highest and lowest marks = 375 – 180 = 195
    Also, highest marks scored by him = 145
    Therefore, lowest marks scored by him = 195 – 145 = 50
