Initial quantity of milk = 0.7 × 200 = 140 litres Therefore, initial quantity of water = 200 – 140 = 60 litres Let the quantity of water added be ‘x’ litres According to the question, 140 / (60 + x) = 7 / 6 Or, 6 × 140 = 7 × (60 + x) Or, 840 = 420 + 7x Or, 7x = 420 x = 60 Therefore, quantity of water added = 60 litres
