    Question

A mixture contains 30 ml water and rest ‘x’ ml milk.

When 0.6x ml of water is added to the mixture, the quantity of water becomes 2/5th of the mixture. Find the value of ‘x’.
A 360 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 450 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 500 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 300 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E 600 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    According to the question,
Quantity of water after addition of 0.6x ml water = (30 + 0.6x)
    Total quantity of the mixture = 30 + 0.6x + x = (30 + 1.6x)
    Therefore,
    (2/5)(30 + 1.6x) = (30 + 0.6x)
    Or, 60 + 3.2x = 150 + 3x
    Or, 0.2x = 90
    Or, x = 450
