Let the initial quantity of milk and water be 'y' and '2y' litres respectively.
So, (y + 1):(2y + 1) = 2:3
Or, 3 Γ (y + 1) = 2 Γ (2y + 1)
Or, 3y + 3 = 4y + 2
Or, y = 1
Therefore, required quantity = 3y = 3 Γ 1 = 3 litres
