Question
The quantity of milk in a mixture is 80 litres more than
that of water in it. 100 litres of water is added to the mixture such that the quantity of milk in the resultant mixture is 90% of the quantity of water in it. Find the ratio of initial quantities of milk and water respectively.Solution
ATQ, we can say that Let the initial water be 'x' litres. Then Initial milk will be = (x + 80) litres (x + 80)/(x+ 100) = 9/10 x = 100 so, Initial water will be = 100 litres and, Initial milk will be = 180 litres hence, the Required ratio will be = 9:5
