200 litres of mixture X contains acetone and glycerine in the ratio 7:9, respectively. 80 litres of the mixture is withdrawn and labelled as mixture Y and 6 litres of acetone is added to it. Find the ratio of glycerine to acetone in mixture Y.
Quantity of acetone in mixture Y = 80 × 7/16 = 35 litres Quantity of glycerine in mixture Y = 80 – 35 = 45 litres After addition of 6 litres of acetone, New ratio of glycerine to acetone = 45:(35 + 6) = 45:41
