    of 12:x respectively. If 40 ml of water and 50 ml of milk is added into it then ratio of milk to water in the resulting mixture will be 2:1. Find the value of ‘x’.

    Quantity of milk in 255 ml of mixture = 255 × 12/(12 + x) Quantity of water in 255 ml of mixture = 255 × x/(x + 12) According to question; {3060/(12 + x) + 50}/{255x/(x + 12) + 40} = 2/1 Or, 3060/(12 + x) + 50 = 510x/(x + 12) + 80 Or, (3060 – 510x)/(x + 12) = 30 Or, 3060 – 510x = 30x + 360 Or, 540x = 2700 Or, x = 5
