Question
There is 250 litres of mixture of milk and water in a
jar. The ratio of quantity of milk to water in the jar is 7:3, respectively. If ‘x’ litres of mixture is taken out from the jar then the difference between quantity of milk and water left in the jar is 70 litres. Find the value of ‘x’Solution
Let the quantity of milk and water left in the jar be 7a litres and 3a litres, respectively According to the question, 7a – 3a = 70 => a = 17.5 Therefore, quantity of mixture left in the jar = 7a + 3a = 10a = 175 litres Therefore, quantity of mixture taken out = 250 – 175 = 75 litres => x = 75
