Question
A giant circular wheel has a diameter of 49 metres. In
how many revolutions will the wheel cover a total of 30.8 km?Solution
Radius of the giant wheel = 49 ÷ 2 = 24.5 metres Circumference of the giant wheel = 2 × π × radius = 2 × (22/7) × 24.5 = 154 metres So, number of rotations to cover 30.8 km i.e. 30800 metres = 30800 ÷ 154 = 200
