Let the width of the rectangle = x cm Then, 350% of x = 49 x = 49 × 100/350 = 14 cm Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(length + width) = 2 × (49 + 14) = 126 cm Perimeter of the square = (126 + 14) = 140 cm The sides of the square = 140/4 = 35 cm The area of the square field without street = (35)2 sq. cm = 1225 sq. cm The area of the square field with street = (35 + 20)2 sq. cm = 3025 sq. cm The area of the street = 3025 – 1225 = 1800 sq. cm The total cost of constructing the street = 1800 × 25 = Rs. 45,000
