Question
In 2020 when his income was Rs. 25,000, Arjun spent 30% of
his income and saved the rest. In 2021, if his income increased by 15% and his expenditure increased by Rs. 500, then by how much did his savings increase as compared to that in 2020?Solution
ATQ,
Amount spent by Arjun in 2020 = 25000 × 0.3 = Rs. 7,500
Amount saved by Arjun in 2020 = 25000 - 7500 = Rs. 17,500
Income of Arjun in 2021 = 25000 × 1.15 = Rs. 28,750
Amount spent by Arjun in 2021 = 7500 + 500 = Rs. 8,000
So, amount saved by Arjun in 2021 = 28750 - 8000 = Rs. 20,750
Increase in savings as compared to 2020 = 20750 - 17500 = Rs. 3,250
