Let the distance be x km. Speed upstream = 30 – 6 = 24 km/hr Speed downstream = 30 + 6 = 36 km/hr ⇒ x/24 + x/36 = 1 ⇒ (3x + 2x)/72 = 1 ⇒ 5x = 72 ⇒ x = 72/5 = 14.4 km
