Question
KL Rahul has an average score of 75 runs in 130 innings.
The highest runs scored by him in an innings exceed his lowest score by 170 runs. If the runs scored in these two innings are removed, then his average decreases by 2. Find the highest runs scored by him in an innings.Solution
ATQ;
Let the highest and lowest runs scored by KL Rahul be ‘x’ and ‘y’ respectively.
Total runs scored by him in 130 innings = 130 × 75 = 9750
Runs scored by him in 128 innings = (75 - 2) × 128 = 73 × 128 = 9344
So, x + y = 9750 – 9344 = 406
And, x – y = 170
So, x = (406 + 170)/2 = 288
