    The average of four numbers is 200. Two of the numbers

    are equal (not least), and 70 more than the least number. If the 4th number is four times the least number then find the average of smallest and largest number.

    ATQ, Let the two equal numbers be ‘c’ each Therefore, least number = (c – 70) 4th number = 4(c – 70) According to the question, 4(c – 70) + c – 70 + c + c = 4 × 200 Or, 8c – 280 = 800 Or, c = 1080/8 = 135 Therefore, 4 numbers are 135, 135, 65, and 260 Therefore, required average = (260 + 65)/2 = 162.5
