Question
BMC Catering Services has divided its fee structure into
two components: a fixed fee and a variable fee, which depends on the number of plates ordered. The fee for an order of 200 plates is Rs. 4,00,000, while the fee for an order of 300 plates is Rs. 5,75,000. If the fixed charge is denoted as Rs. 'x', calculate the total fee for an order of 600 plates.Solution
Let the fixed charge be Rs. 'F' Let the variable charge per plate be Rs. 'V' ATQ; F + 200V = 400000 ....... (I) F + 300V = 575000 ........ (II) On subtracting equation (I) from equation (II), we have; 100V = 175000 Or, V = 1750 So, F + 200 X (1750) = 400000 Or, F = 400000 - 350000 So, F = 'x' = 50,000 So, fee of 600 plates = 50000 + 1750 X 600 = Rs. 11,00,000 Since, 22x = 22 X 50000 = 1100000
