Question
Determine the remainder when the polynomial 4x 3 - 5x 2 + 2x + 1 is divided by (4x - 3).
Solution
4x - 3 = 0
Or, 'x' = (3/4)
Remainder = 4 x (3/4) 3 - 5 x (3/4) 2 + 2 x (3/4) + 1
= 4 x (27/64) - 5 x (9/16) + (6/4) + 1
= (27/16) - (45/16) + (6/4) + 1
= (27 - 45 + 24 + 16) ÷ 16 = (22/16) = (11/8)
