Question
Present age of X is 60% more than that of Y. Present age
of Z, who is 5 years older than Y, is 25 years. After how many years from now, ratio of ages of X to Y will become 13:9?Solution
ATQ, Present age of Y = 25 - 5 = 20 years
Present age of X = 1.6 × 20 = 32 years
Let the required time be T years.
So, (32 + T) : (20 + T) = 13 : 9
Or, 9 × (32 + T) = 13 × (20 + T)
Or, 288 + 9T = 260 + 13T
Or, 4T = 28
Or, T = 7
