Find the present age of Chandan, if the present average age of Arjun, Bhavesh, Chandan, and Deepak is one year more than the present age of Bhavesh.Solution

Let the present ages of Arjun and Bhavesh be ‘5x’ years and ‘7x’ years respectively.
Age of Bhavesh six years ago = (7x – 6) years
Present age of Chandan = 1.25 × (7x – 6) = (8.75x – 7.5) years
Present age of Deepak = (11/9) × (8.75x – 7.5) years
According to the question,
5x + 7x + 8.75x – 7.5 + (11/9) × (8.75x – 7.5) = 4 × (7x + 1)
45x + 63x + 78.75x – 67.5 + 96.25x – 82.5 = (28x + 4) × 9
283x – 150 = 252x + 36
31x = 186
x = 6
So, the present age of Chandan = 8.75 × 6 – 7.5 = 52.5 – 7.5 = 45 years
