Question

Present ages of ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ are in the

ratio 10:12:15, respectively. If present average age of ‘A’ and ‘C’ is 50 years, then find the age of ‘B’ when ‘C’ was 24 years old?
A 10 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 12 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 16 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 14 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the present ages of ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ be ‘10x’ years, ‘12x’ years and ‘15x’ years, respectively. ATQ; (15x + 10x) ÷ 2 = 50 Or, 25x = 100 So, x = 4 So, present age of ‘C’ = 15 × 4 = 60 years Present age of ‘B’ = 12 × 4 = 48 years Difference between the ages of ‘B’ and ‘C’ = 60 – 48 = 12 years So, age of ‘B’ when ‘C’ was 24 years old = 24 – 12 = 12 years
