As per Section 19 of the RTI Act, if an applicant is not satisfied with the PIO's response (or non-response), they can file a first appeal to an officer designated as the First Appellate Authority (FAA). This FAA is required to be senior in rank to the PIO within the same public authority. This provides an internal review mechanism before approaching the external Information Commission (A).
