Who is Considered a Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, or Sikh? •A child (legitimate or illegitimate) whose both parents follow these religions. •A child with one parent following these religions, if raised in that religious community. •A convert or re-convert to Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, or Sikhism. Exceptions: •The Act does not apply to Scheduled Tribes unless the Central Government issues a notification stating otherwise. Broad Meaning of "Hindu": •In this Act, “Hindu” includes anyone to whom the Act applies, even if they are not Hindu by religion.
