The Constitution Forty-Second Amendment Act, 1956 originally, and the provision as later understood, was clarified by the amendment in 2015 the Constitution Ninety-Second Amendment to Article 2262 a High Court may exercise writ jurisdiction where the CAUSE OF ACTION, wholly or in part, ARISES within its territory, even if the governmentauthority concerned is not located there conversely, the mere location of the authoritys office within the territory does not, by itself, confer jurisdiction unless the cause of action arises there. This settled the territorial reach after conflicting decisions. The cause-of-action test now governs the 226 jurisdiction.

A The CAUSE OF ACTION (in whole or in part) arises within the High Court's territorial limits, even though the authority is headquartered elsewhere; mere hosting of the authority's office in the territory without a cause arising is insufficient

B The authority has any office anywhere in the territory regardless of cause of action

C The party is a corporation

D The petitioner merely resides in the territory
