Criminal intimidation is defined in Section 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, corresponding to Section 503 of the Indian Penal Code. Whoever threatens another with injury to his person, reputation or property, or to the person or reputation of anyone in whom that other is interested, with intent to cause alarm, or to cause him to do any act he is not legally bound to do, or to omit any act he is legally entitled to do, commits criminal intimidation. A's threat to publish defamatory photographs unless B withdraws the case targets B's reputation with intent to cause alarm, falling within Section 351. If the photographs were published, defamation under Section 356 might also arise, but the threat alone suffices; extortion under Section 308 requires a property demand, absent here.
