Under Section 19(8) of the Right to Information Act, the Information Commission has the power to require a public authority to take steps necessary to secure compliance with the Act, such as providing access to information in a particular form, appointing Public Information Officers, publishing certain information, making changes to its practices relating to record management, enhancing training, and providing an annual report. The Commission may also award compensation to the complainant. These wide powers make the Commission's orders effective.
