A Preliminary decree is passed in case of any kind of decree. It is a type of decree based on the rights determined of the parties involved and does not vary with the kind of decree.   “a decree is preliminary when further proceedings have to be taken before the suit can be completely disposed of. It is final when such adjudication completely disposes of the suit settling all the matters in dispute between the parties. It may be partly preliminary and partly final."
