Amrit Mohan Prasad, who was serving as the Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), was given the additional charge as Director General of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) effective November 1, 2024. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved this appointment following the retirement of Zulfiqar Hasan, the previous DG of BCAS, on October 31, 2024. BCAS, established in 1978, operates under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and is responsible for establishing and ensuring security standards for civil aviation in India.
